On January 5, 2015, Mercedes-Benz USA announced that its headquarters would be moving to the Glenridge Hall site in Sandy Springs, GA. Last week, they finally broke ground on the $93 million project with a goal of completion by early 2018. CEO Steve Cannon has said that “the Sandy Springs location will help the company tap into the Millennial talent who want to live in-town, while also being close to executive-level housing in Buckhead and the northern Atlanta suburbs.” Since their 2015 relocation to Atlanta, the Mercedes-Benz team has been officing at Sterling Pointe on Perimeter Center North.
The new HQ is located on the south side of the Glenridge Hall property at Abernathy & Barfield Road, near the intersection of GA 400 & I-285. The building will be 250,000 SF on 12 acres. The north side of the property will be developed by Ashton Woods, a local housing developer. The Ashton Woods development will be a neighborhood mixed-use development called Aria and will take up the remaining 47-acres of the Glenridge Hall site. Aria will be a live-work-play development with mixed-use lofts, townhomes and single-family homes surrounded by a neighborhood of retail shops, restaurants and plenty of outdoor greenspace. A portion of the property will be dedicated to the city of Sandy Springs to be used as a public park, complete with walkways, trails and areas for the community to enjoy.
