Tax Incentives Makes Georgia a Movie Mecca

Over the past several years, Governor Nathan Deal has done a lot to attract filmmakers to Georgia, namely considerable tax breaks and other fiscal incentives to draw the studios from their haven out west; in Georgia, studios can recover as much as 30% of production costs through the tax breaks currently in place. In the last fiscal year alone, 142 movies and TV shows were filmed here. These productions contributed an estimated $934 million to the economy here. The year before, Georgia had 13 films on the top-grossing list. Movies currently shooting in Georgia are Taken 3, Fast & Furious 7, and Goosebumps.
