The parcel of land once slated to be the new performing arts center for the Atlanta Symphony Center has been sold for an undisclosed amount. The site sits between 1180 Peachtree and the Four Seasons hotel. Woodruff Arts Center sold the property to New York based developer Ashkenazy Corp., which plans to launch a $650 million mixed-use construction project that could include up three high-rise residential towers. The firm that designed Philips Arena has joined with Ashkenazy to design and build as many as 1,300 residential units on the 4 acre parcel. Ashkenazy said that although the first step (buying the land) is finished, they have a lot of engineering to do before they are ready to file for permits with the city.
