Atlanta-based industrial developer IDI has filed plans with Cobb County for a $13 million spec distribution center off Thornton Rd. A spec development is big news for Atlanta, given the strange-hold that the recent economic downturn placed on development. And even though construction has picked up in the last 5 quarters, spec construction is still something the Atlanta market hasn’t seen much of in recent past.
The 576k SF distribution center qualifies as a Development of Regional Impact due to its size, and IDI has filed all the necessary paperwork with the county to receive this designation. IDI is confident in their decision to develop this project despite a firm tenant due to the number of large corporate tenants scouting the Atlanta market for similar facilities and distribution centers.Share
