Reed Likes GSU’s Plan for Turner Field

While the city has received several offers on the Turner Field property, Mayor Kasim Reed has thrown his support behind Georgia State University and their development partner, Carter. When asked, Reed said that he liked to GSU plan so much more than the other proposed plans because GSU’s would come at no expense to the taxpayer (although it could cost state money since Georgia State is a state school); GSU could infuse as much as $200 million into the area for the redevelopment. Having Reed’s support is huge for GSU as the final decision will be made Atlanta-Fulton County Recreation Authority, which Reed controls.
