Pope & Land Competes Against City of Atlanta for Morris Brown Land

Last week, we reported that Mayor Kasim Reed and the City of Atlanta teamed up with Friendship Baptist Church to offer $12.6 million to Morris Brown College for the vast majority of their campus. It was last reported that the deal was being reviewed by Morris Brown’s creditors, who would reach a decision by the end of May. At the time, Mayor Reed’s proposal was the only one on the table – but all of that has since changed. Pope & Land Enterprises, one of the firms that competed for the Braves stadium deal, announced that they, too, have submitted a bid on the Morris Brown land. Reps from Pope & Land cited the same reasons as the Mayor as to why they are so interested in the land, stating that they believe the area has great potential and that what happens with the Morris Brown land will have a huge impact on the revitalization of the overall area.
