Ponce City Market, the former Sears distribution center and store downtown, has made headlines with the recent deals done with tech companies athenahealth and Cardlytics. It looks like they’re about to add another to their list of high-tech tenants. MailChimp, the Atlanta-based email marketing and listing company, is in talks with Jamestown Properties (who owns and manages the leasing of Ponce City Market) to take nearly 100,000 SF in the mixed-use development.
MailChimp, which is currently headquartered at 512 Means Street in the gritty industrial district, has also expressed interested in Midtown’s Ten 10th Street building, formerly anchored by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. But most sources are convinced that Jamestown will win the battle for MailChimp, as the property is being branded specifically to attract Millennials, which comprise the majority of MailChimp’s workforce (people between the ages of 25 and 35). Closing a deal with MailChimp would bring the development to 70% leased.Share
