In recent years, the state of Georgia has worked to make it one of the cheapest states in which to shoot and produce movies – in fact, over 90 films have been shot here since July 2012 (including blockbuster hits like The Hunger Games). The same developer who took charge of Atlantic Station will move its efforts up to Gwinnett, where it has been hired by long-time studio set scout to build Atlanta Campus Studios.
Jacoby Development will bring Hollywood to Gwinnett with a 400,000 SF movie studio, a film school, and housing to accommodate the film students. Sources report that a major film studio has already expressed interest in leasing space in the studio upon completion to shoot a major motion picture. A purchase price for the former OFS campus in Norcross was not disclosed and involved parties are expected to close by the end of the year.Share
