Mayson Family to Sell 76 Acres Along 400 in Central Perimeter

Over 30 years ago, the Spruill family sold a huge chunk of land in Central Perimeter to developers. One of those developers was Hines, a part of that chunk of land became the Ravinia project, and the submarket was forever changed. The Mayson Family held onto its big chunk of Central Perimeter land, including the historic Glenridge Hall mansion, until this week when they agreed to market their 76 acres along Georgia 400 and Abernathy Rd. The asking price is undisclosed, but sources close to the project say the Mayson Family is expecting to take in about $1 million per acre.

Although the land is currently zoned for residential use, it sits right in the middle of some major HQ locations, including those of UPS and Newell Rubbermaid. The land is actually split into two parcels; the first 47 acres sits north of Abernathy Road, and the remaining 29 acres is on the south side of Abernathy Rd between Glenridge Drive and Barfield Road. If the property is rezoned, it could be the perfect location for another major corporate headquarter campus like the one State Farm is developing just down the street. It could also be a great fit for a massive mixed-use project, like Avalon in Alpharetta. There are already 3 office buildings in the pipeline for Central Perimeter, and this site could possibly house 2-3 more.
