Manulife Financial, the real estate portion of John Hancock Life Insurance Company, could be the next developer to break ground on a new mixed-use development in the office-laden Central Perimeter submarket. Manulife filed plans with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs earlier this month for a mixed-use project next to the Ashford Green office building. According to the plans, Manulife is planning a 250,000 SF office tower as well as 500 apartment units; the project is expected to deliver in 2025.
Manulife Financial isn’t the only company that has expressed interest in constructing a new tower in the growing submarket. Ackerman & Co is expected to building a tower on its Abernathy 400 site, and Hines is planning a new tower at 100 Northpark that could ultimately amass more than 1 million square feet.Share
