The Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority announced that the tolls on 400 will end after evening rush hour on Friday, November 22nd. A spokesperson for the organization said that they chose a Friday so that motorist would have all weekend to adjust to the new traffic lanes and patterns, but urges drivers to allow for extra time for their commute as the city adjusts to the change.
Once the tolls have ended, traffic from the toll lanes will be shifted into the lanes that once served electronic toll patrons. Three will be only three lanes in each direction, down from the current nine lanes. The tolls booth and overhang aren’t scheduled to be demolished until January, as not to further disrupt holiday traffic.Share
