GM Plant in Doraville Granted Rezoning

GM plant doraville

Up until this week, one of the major barriers to redevelopment of the former General Motors plant in Doraville was the fact that the entire property was zoned for heavy industrial; this severely limited what could be done with this property to transform it from a desolate eyesore to a bustling and vibrant commercial center. This week, the City of Doraville opted to rezone the entire parcel to allow for urban, mixed-use projects; the new zoning is called the “Livable Community Code” and will allow for everything from a college campus to a medical center to be developed on the property. Developer Egbert Perry and his company The Integral Group has had their eyes on the site for many months and could close on the property as early as August now that the zoning hindrances have been resolved. Perry vowed that his new project won’t be just “another Atlantic Station,” but a “true transit-oriented development.” Neither Perry nor The Integral Group have divulged any information on their potential plans for the site.
