Georgia Attracts More Huge Deals

It’s no secret that Georgia has been attracting more and more attention from major manufacturers and distributors for some fairly large projects. A few months ago we reported TJ Maxx’s plans to develop a 600,000 SF warehouse in Jackson. We very recently reported Kroger Co. plan’s to develop a 1 million square foot freezer/distribution facility near the Fulton County Airport as well as Restoration Hardware’s proposed flagship store in Buckhead. We can’t stop there, though; there are several more deals that have come to light that are worth talking about.

McMaster-Carr: the Atlanta-based supplier and nuts and bolts has set its sights on a 1 million square foot project off Riverside Parkway in Douglasville. The company is also in talked to develop a 600,000 SF distribution facility near the New Manchester Business Park.

HHGregg: the appliance retailer has been scouting Atlanta to develop a 400,000 SF distribution facility, and it seems as though recently they’ve narrowed their focus in on a parcel located off Anvil Block Road and I-675 in Clayton County. Most speculate that this new facility will replace their current warehouse, located at 3000 Southpark Blvd in Ellenwood.

UnderArmour: the high-end athletic apparel company has been scouting sites from Atlanta to Savannah is search for the best location for its new facility. The facility will be approximately 600,000 SF and serve mainly as a distribution hub.

Maurice Sporting Goods: it’s a little up in the air as to what the sporting goods company’s final plans will be, but it looks as though the company plans to double the size of its current facility at 1325 Georgia 155. The current facility is 178,000 SF, and the company could possible develop up to 300,000 SF during the built-to-suit renovation.
