Former Retail Site in Chamblee Slated for Mixed-Use Project

Spruce Street Partners, founded by JR Connolly of Connolly Realty, has purchased a former retail site in Chamblee and has announced their plans to convert the structure into a mixed-use development. While in the past Connolly Realty has dealt mostly with the construction of strip shopping centers, this location jumped out as the perfect place for a new, attention-grabbing project. The site is walking distance from the Chamblee MARTA station and could potentially the northern-most TOD in the city.

The former Great Gatsby’s store on Peachtree Blvd will be converted into a retail and multi-family project that could even include a hotel, Connolly said in an interview. Spruce Street Partners wasn’t the only firm to express interest in the location, sources say that JLB Partners was interested in building an apartment community on the site but was unable to come to terms with the property owner to get the deal done.
