For the first time since the “White Flight” of the 60s and 70s, Atlanta is experiencing a major demographic shift. Where affluent people once left the city for the suburbs, we are seeing the complete opposite happen now. More and more Millennials as well as “empty-nest” adults are moving in town because of the convenience of a walkable environment. These two demographic groups are generally less concerned with school systems, what some see as a major drawback to living in the city, and more concerned about convenient access to amenities and entertainment.
The explosion of apartment developments is only further engraining this trend throughout Atlanta. Buckhead and Midtown are seeing the majority of the apartment and condo activity and investors are showing no signs of slowing down. Just last week, three more multi-family towers combining for 700 units entered Midtown’s pipeline.Share
