Cobb County, GDOT Breaks Ground on Toll Lane Project

In an effort to prepare for the onslaught of projects coming to the Northwest corridor over the next several years, the county and the GDOT has broken ground on the $1 billion transit project that will hopefully ease future traffic concerns. The project, which is the most expense highway project in state history, will add reversible toll lanes on portions of I-75 and I-285 as well as four new exits to access these toll lanes. Cobb officials say that these improvements are an absolute necessity, and the amount of development occurring in the area is evidence of that. Projects like the Lakepoint Sports Complex in Emerson, the Kennesaw State expansion, and the new Braves mixed-use development will only increase volume on the area’s roadways; without these improvements, traffic could potentially deter people from patronizing these projects upon delivery.
