CID Formed for Area Around Atlanta Airport

A community improvement district has been formed around the Atlanta airport in an effort to “fix up” the historically-struggling area. The district’s West boundary is the intersection of Camp Creek Parkway and Merk Road, the East boundary is the Clayton County line, the North boundary is I-85, and the South boundary is where Best Road and Main Street meet. The district is made up of 174 commercial and industrial property owners who owned property valued at $322 million or more. With its $1.6 million budget, the CID plans to upgrade the landscaping and add some much needed public-safety improvements. They also plan to install additional signage to help tourists navigate their way to and from the airport and local destinations.
