Carpet Giant to Add 420 Jobs in Georgia

Mohawk Industries, one of the region’s largest carpet and tile manufacturers, has announced their plans to renovate and convert their current facilities in Rome and Dalton. Mohawk plans on investing $85 million to convert the facilities from yarn-spinning plants to continuous filament twisting and heat setting plants; company sources say these conversions are necessary in order to keep up with increasing demand. A spokesperson for Mohawk Industries said that they expect to create and maintain at least 1,000 jobs in coming years, which includes a third facility in Summerville.
