Capitol View Manor District Immortalized, Preserved

capitol view manor district

One of Atlanta’s oldest neighborhoods has been granted a historic designation by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Capital View Manor District was one of the first examples of a planned subdivision on the south side of the city, and was built to provide affordable and well-built homes for the city’s growing population. Unlike most neighborhoods in the area that were built on a grid-like pattern, this neighborhood has curving and sloping drives. A huge reason this neighbor was granted the historic designation is because of its designer; Olin I. Freeman, a civil engineer, built this neighborhood as well as many other developments in Atlanta and other Georgia cities.
