Buckhead Will Undergo Renovations to Improve Walkability

At the Future of Buckhead conference in Atlanta this week, we were given a little insight into a couple of Buckhead’s big projects, which focus on making Buckhead “more walkable and bikeable than it is today.”  Some of these projects include a pedestrian bridge that will cross 400 behind Tower Place leading to Stratford Road, as well as a five-mile biking and walking path that will ultimately connect to the Beltline.

Buckhead is also working with a private developer on adding another MARTA stop at King Memorial Station. In recent months, MARTA has taken action to decrease the amount of negative attention drawn to the transit service. Historically, MARTA has been known as a dirty and sometime even dangerous mode of transportation, which has in turn kept more people from using the service. MARTA launched a “Ride with Respect” campaign a few months back that champion basic on-board manners and encourage passengers to report those not respecting the rules.
