Braves Bus System Vetoed by Cobb

Braves MARTA

Although the proposal has yet to be officially submitted, Cobb County Commission Chairman Tim Lee has spoken out about his ideas to fund a rapid transit system to serve the new Braves’ stadium and surrounding area through a combination of contributions from the FTA, SPLOST, and existing special option sales taxes. A very similar rapid transit system from Atlanta to Kennesaw was rejected by voters two years ago when they struck down the TSPLOST tax. Several of the Cobb County Commissioners are concerned that Cobb residents will once again vote down the entire tax if they feel as though too much of the money will go to the stadium while still others are concerned that a bus system would ultimately do very, very little to alleviate traffic congestion in that area anyways.
