Boy Scouts Relocate Turtles from New Braves Stadium Site

The Braves purchase of the land at Interstates 75 and 285 became official this past Friday when executives signed the final paperwork on the 57 acre parcel. The day after the deal closed, members of the Braves organization teamed up with local Cobb County Boy Scout Troops to relocate hundreds of turtles from an existing lake on the property; in order to prep the land for development, the lake will have to be filled in and the land leveled, which would essentially kill or displace hundreds of snapping turtles, yellow-bellied sliders, painted turtles, and red-eared sliders. Braves reps stated that while no one required them to find new homes for the turtles, the organization felt that it was the right thing to do. The turtles were released into a wildlife preserve along the Chattahoochee River.
