Belmont Hills: Back in Action

Belmont Hills

The recession derailed a lot of development plans when it took hold of Atlanta is 2008. Office, industrial, retail, and mixed-use plans were moved to the back burner as firms struggled to stay afloat, much less churn out new assets. But now that the Atlanta has confidently made its way out of the darkness, firms are beginning to refocus their attention on some of the halted projects. A great example of this is the Belmont Hills shopping center in Cobb County. Eight years ago, Halpern Enterprises purchased the shopping center with the hopes of redeveloping into a mixed-use project that would include retail, single- and multi-family housing, and office space. The firm is finally moving forward with those plans, and the project is scheduled to break ground on August 28th. Smyrna Elementary School, which opened last year, will serve as one of the anchor tenants in this mixed-use project.
