AT&T has selected Atlanta as the home for its fourth Foundry Innovation Center, to be located on the ground floor of the Centergy building in the heart of Georgia Tech’s campus. The Atlanta Foundry, which joins Foundries located in Palo Alto, CA, Ra’anana, Israel, and Plano, TX, will focus on the development of mobile technologies. AT&T’s Foundry Centers are designed to give independent developers access to the infrastructure they need in order to develop and expand technologies, and in return AT&T gains insights into emerging consumer trends and cutting-edge technological innovations. AT&T is no stranger to Atlanta – AT&T Mobility is headquartered here and they lease a large amount of space in Midtown as well.
The Atlanta Foundry will join other tech accelerator programs, such as Flashpoint and Advanced Technology Development Center, in an effort to nurture young tech entrepreneurs in Atlanta. Placing this facility near Georgia Tech is a “no-brainer,” according to company officials – the university is a well-known hotbed for mobile technology and engineering innovation.Share
