Atlanta Attracts a Second Wal-Mart Distribution Center

In 2002, Wal-Mart opened a massive distribution center in Carrolton in an effort to keep up with online sales and improve distribution times. Twelve years later, Wal-Mart has those same goals in mind as they look to open another distribution center outside of Atlanta. This time around, however, they are shopping a little closer to the city. The retail giant is considering sites in Henry and Coweta Counties, including the Shugart Farms property, Coweta Industrial Park, Prologis Park I-75, and an industrial parcel off Kinds Mill Rd in McDonough. Sources close to the project estimate that this facility could be as large as 1.2 million square feet.
